A day at the Opera

Steve and Liz went to John's to see Dave and the family while the brothers are all together in one state. I just had to stay home, usually I jump at the chance to see the family but I really need to clean up from the Thanksgiving weekend. I've got a list of stuff I need to get under control, and two days home to do it. I'm really relieved Steve went without me. I feel so much better when I can keep the house and laundry under control.
Just as I was saying good bye to Steve, Jan called to see if i was free to go to the Opera her friend couldn't go. We saw The elixir of Love a comic opera by Gaetano Donizetti in italian. Dan would have loved it too. The italian part anyway. The stage and costumes were lovely. It's one of the things I asked for for Christmas. Thanks Jan.
I guess I'll work twice as hard tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving

The day started at 8. Andrea came over with bagels to get us moving. It was a full day of cooking. We had a nice meal and relaxed with the game and also the movie Moonstruck Liz loved it. Just as the night was winding down we heard gunfire yup gunfire. Rapid fire it was really scary David was outside. He came running back home from the 7/11 down the street. We and a neighbor contacted police and they started a search, by car and also by helicopter. They didn't find anyone or any bodies.yet.

Mom's overnight

We had a nice Sunday the kids came over for brunch around noon. The kids were in and out all day.Watching the Redskins game and visiting with their grandma.I made a long awaited trip to Walmart to pick-up supplies.I made a nice Mac and Cheese casserole for dinner. That was a hit.Grandma lairds recipe. Good comfort food, and a fire on a really cold day.

Today Boram and I split the day with each other I was in the scope room half day and I worked in Borams room the other half of the day. It broke the day up for both of us.

Water Fowl Festival

The choice was between a warm rainy Saturday or a cold rainy Sunday. It looked like there was no escaping the rain. We decided Saturday was the better of the two days. we got there around 2pm after a leisurely breakfast at silver diner with Dave.
Liz came with us , first stop was the yarn shop to check it out.Very nice but no Noro yarn or Polar fleece for Pa tricks hat. I ordered it when we got home.Red and Blue can you believe they don't make a white, we need the Buffalo Bills colors.
Well, the weather was wonderfully warm and sunny. Reston was having the rain instead. Too bad Family, see what happens when you pass on the weekend adventure to Easton MD! We had dinner at Olive Garden before we got home.
Sunday was dedicated to laundry and baking bread. I made a Oatmeal and pumpkin bread. I wan't very impressed at all. It will get eaten but, I won't make it again. Oh, well got to try it once, twice if I like it. Don't like it.
Got to go, Jeff Dunham's Christmas Special is on comedy central, funny guy.

Hats for baby Cyrus

Time sure has a way of getting away from me.Over the weekend Andrea and I cleaned the basement. She will be moving in over Christmas it will help her save money and get her car payed off. All the kids will be moving over the holidays.I think Adrienne, Patrick and Chris will live together and share expences.

Here's a photo of baby Cyrus, and the hat I knit for him. It's made of alpaca wool. I made him a new one out of polor fleece in Red. It looks like this brown one won't fit much longer.I'll be shopping this weekend for more polar fleece to knit Patrick a hat in the Bill's colors.

Weekend with the Fam!

It's been an uneventful weekend very relaxing on Saturday the family came over for an impromptu brunch. We visited a while and I supervised Adrienne's sewing. She's making a scrub jacket for work. I watched some of Pride and Predigest I think I fell asleep at some point. The kids came over in the late afternoon and Christopher made us a nice dinner.
Today we went to Jimmy's Old town tavern in Herndon Va. We watched the Bills game with a few folks from western New york. Maybe a hundred or so die hard bills fans. We had real buffalo wings and felt like we were back in upstate NY
Dr. Na brought in a photos of her son Cyrus to show me, he was wearing the hat I made him. So cool! It looked like it was getting a little small. I made a new hat for him Saturday he grew out of his newborn hat rather fast, this red polar fleece hat will hopefully keep him warm throughout the winter.
Well, time to get things organized for the work week.

My new years resolution was to expand my knowledge of knitting. so far so good.
I'm really glad Fridays here, work was hard this week. Carpel Tunnel,Tennis Elbow, Sciatica, and Achilles Tendinitis. some days I feel like I'm falling apart.

Lunch with Laura

On Tuesday I had the chance to finally get together with my friend Laura we had lunch at the Lakeside Resterant in Reston the texas burger was really yummy and the conversation was even better. We talked for a long time. we saw a man sailing on a surfboard it was cold out and the wind was whipping and yes, he fell in the water. but it looked like fun.... for him.
Andrea came over to get her pants hemed. I did two pair.

Kitty Mom

I went to Grace and Jan's house to take care of the girls 'Rehanna and Emmy time to play and do basic kitty upkeep. Rehanna seemed very vocal today. I think she is protesting. She wants her family back. The girls just have me for a few days or so.
i really need to get caught up with the housework the house is out of control. This weekend is cleanup time. Don't make plans kids we'll be cleaning. I baught a steamer to clean with so I don't have to use cemicals. I really hope it's as good as advertised

Visiting the Cockeranville Cooks

We just got back from a full weekend in PA on Sat. we went directly to Annie's new home for the baby shower. The house is beautiful. The party was fun, but I drank way to much. Ann got lots of great gifts for our newest addition. We all had a great time with the family.Sat. night we drove to John and Jessica's place for an overnight we were all pretty tired and hungover from the festivities. We spent Sunday shopping at King of Prusha mall. I spent lots of Andrea's money for her. It was too bad Jessica had to work. The men folk minus Patrick went fishing on Johns boat.
